a midsummer night's dream

Reaching Out to Enter the Magic of William Shakespeare

There is a desire within us all to excel at something difficult, to reach for something great instead of good enough.  When that challenge is met in a playful, yet disciplined way, magic happens!
Typically, Shakespeare's works are studied as literature; however, Shakespeare meant for his plays to be performed, not read.  It is in the performing that the difficult to comprehend attains a shape.  WE GREATLY CONDENSED HIS STORY, BUT KEPT HIS ORIGINAL LANGUAGE.
Gifted students in grades 2-6 spent a semester immersed in Shakespeare's world.  They learned about his life and the time period in which he lived... AND they worked very hard to perform "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in a manner that was professional.  This involved the creation of a first class set, unique costumes, fascinating makeup, and most importantly --superb acting.

View a few scenes from the play!

Learn the story of Pyramus & Thisbe --which the Mechanics perform in Act 5 and view a short clip afterward of that scene.

This is our play logo designed by Grayce which was on the programs and our cast t-shirts!
