"Lights, Camera, Comedy!" - May 2013
"Lights, Camera, Comedy!" revisited the early days of television and film. A giant television was designed and created by several clever G.T. moms who are gifted themselves --obviously. A duo of movie ushers introduced each act --there were even old television commercials and a group of housewives discussing the shows they were "watching." This production consisted of vignettes that remembered the past and enabled students to appreciate the transition of entertainment in the early years to what they know now.
WE SHOWED THIS VIDEO AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PLAY TO PROVIDE THE AUDIENCE A GLIMPSE OF EXACTLY "WHO" STUDENTS WERE PORTRAYING--
INSTEAD OF THE "FORMAL" CURTAIN CALL WHERE EACH PERSON COMES FORWARD AND TAKES A BOX, WE USED THE FOLLOWING VIDEO AT THE END OF THE PLAY AND THEN HAD THE ENTIRE CAST COME DOWN THE AISLE AND TAKE A GROUP BOW. THIS WORKED REALLY WELL WITH SEVERAL AUDIENCE MEMBERS COMMENTING ON HOW MUCH EASIER IT WAS TO ACTUALLY "SEE" THE KIDS ON THE BIG SCREEN.

CAST PARTY
We had a G.T. Family Cookout for our cast party --burgers, hotdogs, chip and dip, and the BIGGEST HIT... two tables topped with homemade desserts of all kinds! Delicious. After the meal the kids were divided into teams to compete in the "Charlie Chaplin CREATIVITY Challenge." It was great fun with winners names for two divisions. The prize? Each winning team member received a Charlie Chaplin hat, moustache, cane, and bow tie.
