1999 & now 2011!
The Weiner High G.T. program performed Shakespeare's, "The Taming of the Shrew," in January of 1999. That production included the traditional Elizabethan costumes. This time we decided to prove that Shakespeare's plays work in virtually any time period and for any audience by setting it in the 1950's and performing it for a 2011 audience. We even included a group of gossipy beauty shop girls who talked between scenes to add an additional element of comedy and also to help the audience better understand Shakespeare's words.
