Dear Peyton,
When I was in the regular classroom, I read "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" to my class every year. I loved the story. Aslan was and still is one of my very favorite book characters. Most people only read that ONE book, but actually C.S. Lewis wrote this as a series of seven books. Readers who do not read the entire series are really missing out. That's why you will be reading the entire series --that means you will be able to take 7 Accelerated Reading tests! This series is my oldest daughter's favorite read. She has read it many times, saying if she ever got a tattoo, it would be Aslan and the Witch making the deal. C. S. Lewis, the author, actually wrote the series as a symbolic way to explain the death of Jesus to his children. Few readers know that. Many of Lewis' writings are about Christianity --in fact, Lewis is called a theologian. His Narnia series has many anthropomorphic characters that are on equal terms with the human characters. Those who read the Narnia series are devoted fans --fans like my daughter who love it so much they would choose a character from it for a someday tattoo! Ms Hesse |
